I literally deleted everything else. I just wouldn't use anything if not for Nostr at this point. It's all hot trash. My wife even told me today that she deactivated her Facebook and Instagram because of how shit it makes her feel.

I wish there was more non-Bitcoin/Nostr stuff on Nostr though. Currently, there's little that interests me outside of tech. And that's getting boring because there is little point to any of it outside of us talking about the tech. Lots of circle jerking and GM bullshit.

I completely agree. There's so much bitcoin stuff and I'm not as sold on it as most people on nostr. I'm here because I like the idea behind the tech and I'd love to engage on something other than bitcoin!

I'd recommend trying out Olas. I recently did, and I haven't seen any Bitcoin content yet. The only Bitcoin exposure are zaps.

What kind of stuff are you seeing?

Most of your posts from the past 24 hours are bitcoin.

Is your point really that I use this npub to post about the exact topics my profile lists? Lol

That doesn't change the fact that it's the content that gets engagement. I have posted about other topics on this npub and another and it gets fuck all. Crickets. Why would I want to keep doing that? Nostr is basically just a place I go to talk about Bitcoin and closely related topics because that's all there really is here. It's more like a niche forum than anything else if I'm honest.

No, my point is to be the change you want to see. I'd bet less than 25% of what I discuss on here is bitcoin specific. Id say my feed is probably 25-50% bitcoin stuff, the rest is dev and farming and community and such. It's up to you to build the feed you want mate

That's easy to say when those topics are pretty popular in Bitcoin culture. I will think more about it though.

I would like to hear more about emergency medicine, especially as it relates to short I can grow and forage as I have a large garden and put many perennials in my pastures

Do you mean for medicinal uses?

What are some things you wish were more popular to talk about here?

My personal philosophy about this is: we’re pioneers who must be comfortable with speaking into the void. As Nostr grows, the void populates, eventually with people looking for what you have to say. If you use relevant hashtags, they’ll even see stuff from a while ago if they’re looking for it, so it’s not wasted time. I’ve had people react and respond to notes that are months old.

Everything. Just like on the other major platforms. You can find a community for just about anything. Yes, that takes time, but we have no marketing. People just land here and have Bitcoin and Nostr dev shoved in their faces. That's been my experience.

GM 🫡

Agreed! Especially your view towards social media &, in my experience, the growing toxicity from controlled algorithm and advertisements in demand for our attention + clicks just isn’t worth it. #Nostr changed everything related to social media for me.

Since my complete purge from all centralized social media starting 2020, my QOL has significantly been better. And from what I’ve been told, their platforms have taken a turn for the worse & I just don’t see myself going back. Ever.

Here’s a non circle jerk thing for you.

Lol I appreciate it.

Title “Talk about chilling”

There's good nature pages too if you're into this kind of stuff.

nostr:nprofile1qqsph3c2q9yt8uckmgelu0yf7glruudvfluesqn7cuftjpwdynm2gygpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3qamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wwa5kuegpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumrpdejqwk5cd9 your idea about scraping content may be something to investigate. I prefer ethical scraping though. But you can't control it either way.

There is a paradox I'm noticing a lot when it comes to big tech alternatives, where people complain about there being not much content besides the same regurgitated crap, yet those same people don't join to give different content to them.

I think Nostr is experiencing this very phase rn but I know it will grow out of it sooner or later.

Maybe we do just have to suffer through posting what we love to the void so there's stuff here for people to find. Someone has to end the standoff at some point. Another issue though is ensuring the content actually stays around. The only way to do that is to run a relay that stores your stuff. There are some paid options out there but you're still trusting them. Your hard work can theoretically be pruned away. That's true for other platforms too, but they at least have business models that aren't just a bunch of hobby relays. These are the things I'm thinking about.

Just followed you Matt. Let’s make this place special. Nostr tech is superior so it’s up to the people using Nostr to keep it superior 🧡🫡💜
