The pastor of a church I attended back in PA once gave a sermon illustration of teaching a toddler "no, hot" when they're near a stove, but it being ridiculous if that toddler, grown and living in a shared apartment, is still fearful of the stove and keeps their roommate from using it with a warning of "no, hot." As we grow in knowledge and understanding, we can understand concepts better, "no, hot" goes from being "because dad said so" to "I need to use this heat source responsibly so I don't hurt myself or start a fire in my apartment." Seems applicable, my mind went there anyway.
