I honestly wonder at least a couple times a week if I should stop using my real name and profile pic.

in hindsight… taking your hardware wallet & laptop offshore fishing with you was a very bad idea
You would need to start fresh and anonymous. This profile will always be linked to your name now.
Right. I can't just rename it. A lot of work has gone into it though. My name is essentially my brand. At this point it's too late.
Not a bad idea to start from scratch every 6 months to a year just to understand the experience
Its not too late. For privacy sake you may have to discard this account and start fresh without your name. The issue is never connecting those two accouts. Would need to work on all new projects not associating with old self. Real hard, but more will go this route with as our governments try to paint us as criminal for freedom money and free speech.
my lineage is well dressed skeletons
When you start with real ID, it is almost impossible to erase the track. Even if you are an expert.
You can use a completely seperate anon accont. But then you'll have to account to mange and there's always the risk of a slip up.
*two
A bit late for that don't you think?
Correct

Nobody would know. Do it.
I like being able to selectively reveal details about myself on here. The other day I doxxed my first name to you guys. This account isn't really anonymous, just pseudo anonymous.
We need a mass nostr account burning and restart. The Great Reset maybe?
Wym?
We all "delete" accounts and start fresh. Relay operators dump logs.
I do not use my real name here or at instagram. Usually try not to reveal it. But I am quite luckly that I have most general name in my country (first name and also surname are really common in here). 😁
I might not be using my real name, but if you spend some time searching the internet, it's not too hard to figure out who I am. Using the same moniker that I use for music, I kind of debate if its been a mistake.
Eh, they already know who you are. I sometimes feel the same why, but what are they gonna do, screw em. I'm Michael Sparks, they call me Wildcard.

We need "doxxed" people to move things forward in the real world. Being anonymous isn't easy nor possible for everyone. We all like privacy, we all want to be left alone, but most battles of consequence will require your face and your bravery.
I think about this, too, but also know it’s easier to trust social media when you see “real” people.
I think it depends on how you want the world to see you and how that affects your ability to interact with it.
These are fair points and I believe the success of Nostr Plebs and my travels speaking about Nostr at various conferences has benefited from being doxxed. I could be wrong.
It’s similar to people preferring to meet up in person with someone using Facebook rather than Craigslist.
Doxbook
All good points. I guess it also depends on the conference, which ones were they?
Fuck me.
I typed them all out and almost hit send.
🤣😂
I think the not being able to delete posts is one of the strongest reasons to use a nym. We’re constantly seeing people’s old tweets being dug up from 10+ years ago when the tweeting culture was completely different from what it is now. So imagine 10 years from now, if nostr has a super strong search function and has become big enough where people dig up old posts…will the culture that’s the norm here currently still hold up then? Hard to say.
Haven't posted a picture of myself on the net in over ten years and my profile pic has been something other than me for much longer. I've only started using a different name in the last 4-5 years. Don't give them anything.
I regret leaking that I am a cat. Now everyone thinks I’m a pussy.
Here puss puss 😂
I regret leaking I’m a wolf. Now everyone thinks I sniff asses.
I regret leaking I’m a frog. Now everyone thinks I’m a French Canadian
Dog, but same. I'd neeeeeeever do that...
Big if true.
You've always been a pussy. That's why we love you.
It’s probably too late at this point.
