Actually, Ephesians tells us that King Jesus is presently ruling the world *through* the church (Greek ecclesia, meaning "assembly"). Jesus' assemblies, unlike the enslaving governments we've experienced all our lives, are (when operating biblically) 100% voluntary bodies that report directly and only to Jesus as their Sovereign.
