I took a different lesson from this... 3 million views. Is that what we're doing, trying to be the dude who's opinion gets read by more people? That's so stupid. If that's what success for nostr looks like, its kinda dumb. You can't talk with millions of people. You can already see how influencers here on nostr prioritize talking with other influencers. What's the point? What, are we all secretly planning to **_monetize_** our audience?

It makes sense. I was never really on it, so nostr is my first experience of a twitter-like thingy. Twitter censored me in my first 5 minutes on it, suspended my account, then made it literally impossible to appeal.
I suspect nostr will end up the same as Twitter, at least in the pettiness/ego department.
Kind of same here, but the deletion of the â‚ż hashtag was the petty thing that got me out. So pettiness on both parts, mine and fitter. I sometimes look back into Twitter and I feel uncomfortably different after reading a few threads, so try to not open the Twitter box at all.
Not sure where nostr will end up—so far it is a benign tool and the connections I have/threads I see aren’t bad. I think the best part are connections’ interests show up and make my experience of nostr and the world more broad.
Sure social media is similar across platforms, but the clean feeling of nostr’s lack of algo-manipulating posts give a different result.
Coming to your point, to follow the same influencers isn’t felt as necessary because the benefit is a different feel, and that’s refreshing. I’ve seen egos die on the #nostr vine. If others feel the same, that means nostr will not become a Twitter and is on track to be something else.

YES. That’s EXACTLY what most influencers want. Those on nostr want the status quo of social media without censorship.
Most influencers are building a brand for the sole purpose of marketing it.
Not one - not ONE - can be trusted with anything they say. That doesn’t mean value can’t be had in what they say, but ulterior motives that don’t have the masses best interest at heart should always be assumed.
Find me someone influential who refuses to post click bait, refuses zaps, and redirects their traffic to good projects. These are a vanishingly small subset. These are the ones with high quality signal.
I also want to add that some influencers are up front with their mission. This is to be commended.
I'm not sure nostr can fix the inherent fiat nature of social media. I'm feeling pretty weirded out by it right now.
