Fun fact: the folding response is called seismonasty β€” The folding happens because the plant quickly changes turgor pressure in special hinge-like cells at the base of the leaflet and petiole, causing them to collapse.

When you touch Mimosa pudica, the little paired leaflets fold upward toward each other along the midrib, like two hands closing.

I took mimosa pudica for a parasite cleanse way back in the day. That stuff is strong

I have not tried that but did read that was one of the potential uses
