Asking for a friend.

In normal creative writing / blogging / social media posting, do you ever use an — em dash?

Every time I see an — em dash, I assume it’s AI generated gobbledygook.

For me it’s the tell tale sign of AI slop.

Am I wrong?

Have you ever used an em dash in normal day to day writing?

I’ve also had the exact same thought and come to the same conclusion. I was never taught in school to use it.

Same here. I had never been taught it at school and never used them at university. Only heard of them through AI!
