im just thinking/typing out loud here...

sometimes i feel it would be incredibly fun to attend every nostr meetup/bitcoin meetup that crosses my feed. but alas, i have a fiat mine and im not a rich nostrich.

the potential to meet new nostriches and new bitcoiners, onboarding as many people as possible, tossing out purple pills and orange pills like some crazed pharmacist, well, the idea is intoxicating. some day perhaps.

if you have the ability to do this, you should consider it. and post pictures so that i can live vicariously through you :)

but seriously, nostr and bitcoin adoption aren't going to increase without boots on the ground, hands on examples and use cases.

people need to see how bitcoin is beneficial. people need to see how nostr is helpful. hands on experienceds are incredibly powerful. most people learn this way. plus, your enthusiasm and positivite outlook on these tools goes a long way.

work hard.

adoption is up to all of us.

Frogwalk fixes this.

perhaps. i did this almost 2 years ago to attend my first bitcoin confernece as a speaker at Honeybadger. it was probably the first zapraiser on nostr. it was successful and it kind of kicked off all of this for me. im not going to do that again though. i don't need to ask the community for funds again. i don't feel right doing so.

this note wasn't about fundraising or asking for funds to be able to do this. i saw a note by Bitcoin Bay and this thought process was prompted because of that. i was just thinking outloud and turned it into a note because i tend to overshare too much on nostr :)

Well said.

Need a Derek Ross hologram.

I do my best in social situations to teach people without being overbearing. I’ve found that if someone isn’t asking questions within the first 2 minutes they’ll just zone you out as another lecture equivalent.

I keep thinking that merchants who give a “BTC discount” of a few percentage points would start to move things. But I can’t control that. But that got me thinking- for every person that’s using Venmo to send me $20 for this or that- it’s those people that I can offer a BTC discount to. Or, I owe someone $30, but I could offer to send $35 to them using Strike or River… Granted, most won’t be ready to send or receive yet, but it might spark a curiosity. Like why would I take $18 in BTC equivalent vs the $20? Also, think of the mindset shift for that person who thinks it’s “too expensive “ to buy BTC now, but if their friend wants to “give them some…. It hits differently. Honestly, I’d give up a couple of bucks per orange/purple pill to my network of real-life friends if that was what did it for them. Again, think about what each of us can do ourselves- and make the future we want to see.

Salute to that 🫡. Working on it 🧡💪🏼💜

I feel this. I’m in a similar situation. I’d love to be in a position to actually get out and engage people 1-on-1 about BTC and Nostr.

I think some may argue it isn’t a scalable way to grow, but I disagree. It’s actually how you get network effects…a certain percentage of those that get pilled will become so passionate, that they will heed the call.

I know there’s grants out there for devs to build…would be nice to have that for evangelists. People who are comfortable getting out there, boots on the ground, knowing the talk tracks and framing, and comfortable recording/documenting it.

Need the ambassadors + devs working in tandem to grow.

IMHO, #nostr might grow more without the orange pill so readily shoved down the throats of new comers.

We're gonna win

This is exactly why i decided to volunteer and inform the community here in Australia about https://vexl.it/

Boots on the ground initiative is important.
