nostr:npub1t0nyg64g5vwprva52wlcmt7fkdr07v5dr7s35raq9g0xgc0k4xcsedjgqv this feels like such a steep onboarding fee. I understand it’s job, but I wonder if there isn’t a way to lower the cost of entry for someone new to try your product?

Is the fee 10,000 sats?

Technically yes, but in reality it’s $17.31.

I think the fee is less than 50,000 sats (which is $17). The actual fee is only 5K or 10K sats. This looks like just confusing UX

I should have said the cost to try a new wallet

Ah, I see

Yea, poor word choice on my part

I know that it’s just bitcoin moving between wallets, but the feeling that one gets is that there’s an “entry fee” and that (imho) makes me feel like it’s damn expensive to try.

Imagine if another nostr app asked you to send 50k sats before being able to use it.

i agree. though, i also don't know of a better solution that doesn't result in numerous abandoned channels or channels opened at a loss.

This is when I realized that I don't need to try every wallet, lol. Happy with nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5

Phoenix used to have this too, but now instead charges higher % tx fees rather than for channel open

I prefer that model

The fee is minimum 10k sats, the payment minimum is so you don’t try to receive a payment so low that it all goes to the channel open fee

Maybe an informational onboarding experience could be valuable here. Good to understand the reason and could help that initial feeling of “Whoah that’s a lot of money to try this product”
