So if Damus removes zaps (temporarily), we can have an old style #zapathon by posting Lightning invoices in notes and everyone will have to search to find one that hasn’t already been paid! πŸ˜‚

This was my thought as well

Proof of Work for Zaps. πŸ˜‚

One-click zaps are so lame. πŸ˜‚

Phil, I’m down with that. I expect there’s a generation of users (not physical age of user, but when they were onboarded) that haven’t used invoices much, if at all. It would be good to go back to our roots if that’s what it takes in the short term while this gets sorted out. While it probably doesn’t help, I have disabled all updates to my phone in the meantime. Contemplating posting my simplex QR as well since I don’t want to lose the connections I’ve made here as well. πŸ€™πŸ»πŸ«‚

Just log into Snort or any other client with your key. Damus is not Nostr. You won't lose anything.

Yes I understand and will do that for sure. At this point I’ve only used Damus on my phone.

That’s my other question is the best replacement? I know there’s Snort and Primal. Seems that I heard that Nostrgram may have been abandoned but not sure. Haven’t seen anything from the creator in a while. πŸ€™πŸ»

Folks seem to like Plebstr as well.

Plebstr is probably my 2nd choice for an iOS app. It’s on TestFlight though and not in the App Store. I’m guessing they would also have the same issue getting it in to the App Store since it also supports zaps.

I've used it on Android and the UI isn't my favorite, but it seems good.

I think webclients and PWAs are the way forward, it's a much harder fight for a greedy corporation to censor web content than an app on a centralized platform they control.

Oh, and by the way, Snort is open source and you can self host an instance. Umbrel even has a plug and play app. So, unless they cut you off from the internet they can't stop nostr OR zaps.
