To be honest I don't know where that data is saved. Maybe it's cached locally or something like that.
It's saved in multiple - sometimes conflicting - relays. And these days all relays are being spammed. :(
So what happens if you want to delete a post you made earlier? Is that possible? Or are we stuck with whatever we posted for all eternity?

But assume that once something is out there, it cannot reliably be retracted.
You are stuck. You can ask relays to delete it. But people can keep a copy of your signed (and thus verifiable) message
