What platform you would use to onbard non-technical people?
If it's under 500 people, Simplex
For bigger groups, self hosted matrix
For public stuff, nostr
Certainly not telegram, whatsapp, signal, or ANYTHING that requires a phone number (eg discord with their shotgun verifications)
Signal is good for contacts and family. That's it.
Use different messengers for different purposes, and encrypt everything if it's not available.

I quit Telegram ages ago. Still disappointed how many bitcoin groups and companies use it for all comms.
Telegram for everybody and Signal for irl contacts.
