The technique SBC used is genius.
They’d have someone dressed like a presenter and apparently Ali G would appear to be an Assistant helping on set. They’d start rolling and the celebrity would eventuslly realize that Ali was the presenter.
Annoyingly, Trump was one of the few people who called BS.
