Apparently HP servers with SAS controllers are only compatible with HP enterprise hard drives.
Tried to save money buying a used server now I'm stuck with this hunk of junk because I didn't do my research 😭

Eh? I've def used not HP disks before, maybe I'm using older gen
Do u have the p420i smart array thingy?
Yeah I have that controller
Tried everything, 3 different drives, hba mode, system recover, new bios, nothing works.
O ly the HP drive that came with the server works :/
Server also way too loud to boot
The fans are hardcore. I'm running pfsense in my hp servers, trying to figure out what disks I'm using right now
Oh shit, I am using HP disks sry. Shit I'm gonna be annoyed as hel if have to buy replacements and they have to be HP. I normally use dell
They do :/
And I don't think you can use a generic smart array controller either, won't work with the mobo
https://savemyserver.com/ these guys have those HP drives for cheap. Actually used them to source my HP boxes
I've never heard of any hard drives being required for any particular controllers. Is it a hardware RAID misconfiguration perhaps?
Same with lab equipment. Most has to be connected to hq approved computer
