Offended? No. Annoyed? Meh. If a client had the ability to mute or ignore an entire Nostr address domain, I would add nostrich.house. We may need better tools in the future as Nostr grows and bots become more prevalent. Maybe build a tool allowing people to opt-out of bot replies? I'd be a huge fan of that route from bot developers.

Left me no choices but to do something similiar like what happens to fediverse <-> bridgy incident: mass opting out

Being able to block whole nostr address domains would make search so much more useable! Would allow me to block all the bridges and actually be able to search nostr and nostr only!

unfortunately it's cheap to change the domain of bots on the Nostr protocol. we need a better strategy. at Google were fighting spam for decades... it's a race 😕

Spam fighting is a constant moving game of whack-a-mole. I haven't fought spam in many years, but back in my mail and Spamassassin days, it was always a huge pain in the ass. I don't think anything changes with Nostr. We just need better tools that work in decentralized models.

Bots aren't my concern, as you're never going to get rid of them. What I'm after is being able to block any and all mostr bridges. I can't tell you how many times I've searched hashtag x and only get overwhelmed with results from the fediverse via the mostr bridge. I don't care what the fediverse thinks because I'm searching on nostr, and if I did want to know I'd just search Mastodon.

feel it, too. unfortunately it's so very easy to drop everything into the Nostr, and currently there's no nip for quality assurance of whatever kind...

Ok, I'll stop it this weekend. But for Nostr: What is the difference to X now? Everyone uses like 5 relays, all the same... How's that decentralised anymore? Nostr can't compete to X if 450 ai bots are a problem - that's my message. Sorry.

Thank you.

I think your point has been made. Just as it's been made several times over the past year and a half from other people running bots. We don't have great tools to combat bots and spam on Nostr. Can you help with a solution here? Maybe that's what we need most? People working on the solution?

As for centralization, an Outbox model fixes this. All major clients have committed to implementing this at some point this year.

Love too. Learning from e-mail would be, that only cost can prevent mass-spam. Learning from evolution would be, that solutions follow challenges... I'll try to be helpful here.

For the outbox: I understand it's like the lightning gossip, but maybe I am wrong. Think that would put more load on that unpaid infrastructure then possible... I'll read more about it, thanks for the hint

People call it the gossip model, but it's not like network gossip. It's gossip as in it's the model used by the Nostr client called Gossip.

Essentially anyone can use any relay that they want to use and clients fetch notes based on relays on pubkeys you're following.

You and I wouldn't need a common relay to communicate. It vastly increases decentralization.

The load would be shifted to clients, I guess, and off of relays.

*sighs*

I get it, but I really want to nut-punch you. I won't. But I want to.
