Today's episode of crazy shit my dad let me do as a child.

My dad came from a long time baking family. He owned a rather large wholesale and retail business for the majority of my childhood. Full of large commercial equipment. If you didn't know, making donut dough, (yeast raise donuts) in large batches requires rather large machinery. Of such machines are "mixers" and large stainless steel bowls, and mixing "hooks". They weight just under 1500lbs, equipped with a 5HP 3-phase motor and probably like a 20:1 torque increase. You then attach the 20+ lb stainless-steel "hook" to the 2" shaft. Our machines had no guards whatsoever and ran almost all day. When I was about 11 y/o I was responsible for mixing dough and some other shortening based icings. I front of these machines for about 6 hours starting at 4 am. Often wearing loose clothing an aprons XD

If you've ever seen a video of a guy getting sucked into a lathe. I hear these machines do something like that, and have a massive steel spiral hook attached. These things were meant to tear your limbs off. Another blue collar way to hide a body as we used to joke.
