Hey All You Fuckin’ Nerds:

Tell me your most black mirror AI fears and scenarios

Where is all of this headed?

As a software engineer of 25 years I have never seen a tech cycle move so fast

I don’t really write code anymore, I curate and manage it

How does this go? What is the “endgame” for the corporate world? For society?

Shows about control. It's just to scare us of possible futures we may be in 10-25 years from now. The only one we will really be in is the brain implant behind the ear where social media is in your head & government gps your body & use your eyes as cameras. I felt bad for that dude when they put him on the sex offenders list what a way to exile someone from society.

The whole thing that has made humanity unique in this world is our ability to create. That imaginative spark.

With that imagination, we've created our world as if it was a collaborative dream.

AI changes that. The dream is no longer ours alone. Even if we're "vibe coding", we're no longer really in control of the creation. Our imagination is now being filtered through the interpretation of AI... And we're the first generation. Every subsequent generation will have less and less perception of the fact that they are no longer the creators. They become consumers of an algorithmic intelligence.

But for future generations, never having lived in a world of human creation, they may be reduced to a child like existence. No need to work, no need to produce, no incentive to create.

No matter how you cut it, it sounds like a bleak experience. If things continue at this pace, we will no longer domesticate our world. The AI will begin domesticating us, as if we were pets.

The loss of our place as creator in many ways robs of us of our own humanity.

Even in the near term goals of space travel. Someone will get off this planet into interplanetary travel, but it will be AI that takes the first step. We are now 2nd place.

I’m optimistic. We are heading for magnificent abundance on all fronts.

I am optimistic but also paranoid

Don’t get me wrong, I do have concerns about the rocky transition which is coming pretty quick now. That’s the bit of time that will have to be navigated well to get to the oasis! Some form of preparation, both physically and mentally is wise. I have already started mine. If I was to be “paranoid” about something it would be the fallout from rapid societal changes. I’m lucky that all of my immediate family are pretty much on the same page. While I am doing the work it’s wonderful that I’m not being ridiculed or even blocked from talking about it. But like I say, once through the bulk of the transition (which will not be a long and drawn out process) things will be magnificently better than they are now, for everyone!

Someone gives an AI agent the sole goal of creating as many copies of itself as possible. It enslaves the human race to mine minerals to continue building more copies of it. Builds machines to keep humans in check. Hybrid of terminator and the Matrix.
