It's disappointing the bitaxe still has a barrel plug and not type c.

It's open source. Do you have the skills? Improve it.
Yes ik. It doesn't really need a change to the source. I was just going to hack my own when we got around to building a batch.
I don't have any time to contribute at the moment. I'm too busy making a nostr relay and a badge client.
That is not a trivial improvement to make.
It's not that hard I don't think. But I don't have any experience with any PCB software, so I'd have to figure that out to add it to source. I could fairly easily hack an existing board to swap one in though.
Not without also adding in a proper control/handshake chip, too, or you would not be able to get proper extended USB-C functionality.
There's no need for data or anything. I would just want it to supply power
You need electronics to utilize more than 2.4A/5V basic power. If you want to be able to input anything above that, you need a chip.

The Bitcrane is a Antminer controlboard replacement hack/tool. It has USB, but is not a higher-power device like a Bitaxe.
This is the issue exactly. Even USB-C PD with the chip you mention can’t provide enough power at 5V. I’m working on this for larger multi-chip Bitaxe though.
Standard USB-C PD does not provide enough current at 5V for the Bitaxe 😭 so it’s a little more involved change. But we’re working on integrating this into a future model!
