Any social interactions open you to manipulation. I think the difference on nostr is that posts are just shown from people you follow and are shown chronologically (at least by default in most clients).

There is no invisible hand pushing some content on to everyone's screens and hiding other content in the shadows.

Nostr is not trying to sanitize content for advertisers. Nostr had no need to homogenize the user base to make them all desire the same mass marketable products.

In fact unlike how there is a "Facebook" or "YouTube" there is no "nostr". There are just users creating content choosing relays to distribute their content and clients to view it without a centralized puppet master pulling the stings.
