maybe the best way of describing the usage of hashtags is a way of making yourself accessible. Without hashtags it's difficult for anyone to find your post, particularly if you're new and (almost) no one follows you

nostr:npub1npng63c34htrjww07r6n86y3jycnhje9zdq956h0k93uljr6c82qgkcs7x on many clients you can also "subscribe/follow" to hashtags. From then on, your main stream will display all discoverable notes containing the followed hashtags, regardless if you follow a specific npub (entity like you which is producing notes on nostr).

I'm using as clients mainly Amethyst by nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z, Primal Android and Web and some Nostros by nostr:npub1v3tgrwwsv7c6xckyhm5dmluc05jxd4yeqhpxew87chn0kua0tjzqc6yvjh.
