Make sure you back up your 2FA keys, folks.

The 2FA app I was using, despite being open source, got purchased by some sketch company some months back without my knowledge, and rolled out an update with paid features today that wiped out all my keys.

Thankfully, I manually backup all my 2FA secrets. Really feel for those affected that can't get into important accounts.

Wow that's messed up.

What app?

RaivoOTP

checkout https://2fas.com/ with an offline backup

I've used this in the past for bitrex access. Still have it on a new android phone but i use Vaultwarden on my @Start9 server now.

Woukd still use it as a back up to that though.

I haven't considered this angle. I know not having a backup sucks, but if your backup is ultimately with a cloud service that runs the 2FA, it could still happen. Man... How will the average person survive in this world with everything being shit.

nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll and VaultWarden solves this. Be your own 2FA.

Thank god for Nostr... I have heard the news and made an backup of my Ravio keys.

Now I am using Bitwarden Auth.

But a manual backup sounds like a great idea, too. Thanks for that.

Stuff like that is exactly why I switched to FreeOTP+ it's FOSS tech to pair with my freedom tech. 🖖🏾⚡

Smart man

does it do encrypted backup exports?

Yep 👍🏾
