As long as you don't login on SwiftKey, they won’t save your typing history. I also had not observed any exfil of data from the keyboard, beyond typical diagnostic reporting. But those requests can be blocked with firewall. Likely, no less secure than expecting Apple to not be keylogging with their own keyboard tbh

I’ve had enough run-ins with malware and products that claimed to have safeguards still exposing my data that it’s not worth the risk by saving a little time copying and pasting image URLs.

Works for gif’s, I don’t use it for typing. But I did have to ‘accept’ that it would use my info for diagnostic bs something or other.

I’m pretty sure Apple or any other keyboard does the same?

On Android you can easily switch between keyboards on the fly. There are many great FLOSS keyboards that respect your privacy that you can use by default (FlorisBoard, OpenBoard, AnySoftKeyboard, etc.) and you can switch to something that supports gifs just for the one gif.

Some even let you configure emoji-keyboards explicitly, like 8VIM.

And if you just need gifs for nostr, please know that some clients have gif integration. Plebstr, for example.
