To be honest, Bitcoiners are one of the kindest, nicest, welcoming people I have ever met - & I’ve met leaders who are changing the world & have a strong head on their shoulders
Even so, there are a big chunk of Bitcoiners, that are douchy & extremely arrogant, unwelcoming, toxic, & point-blanc/fanatical. It’s a male-dominated world, much like all the industries I’m involved in.
It would be a nightmarish hell if Nostr was Bitcoin talk non-stop 24/7. Now, things are exciting, & new… but you are 💯 right. This protocol needs non-Bitcoiners.

I took pleasure in being open to learning more from Bitcoin maxis with more expertise, but I was treated like I am not.
There was a time where some developers accused me of being “highly sus,” & one major one even asked me “why are you even on Nostr?” in a very hostile way, as if I don’t belong here or have an ulterior motive - extreme paranoia.
How is hostility perceived via text? I’m still learning in this area

Agreed. Love Nostr but it’s an echo chamber at the moment. That’s not criticism of the platform or the people currently here, but I want some new topics and content. I find I’m getting dragged back to the other platform as my cultivated lists are very much active there.
I'm not sure that term simply means, to hold no coin in a portfolio. I've seen it defined as simply beleving crypto will fail, but I've also seen the harshist critics who do show some technical understanding (clearly with a different conclusion, and maybe not always fairly presenting that technical understanding) embrace that term.
I think there are people who just have different priorities, and people who are simply coming of age to participate in any investment. 130 million people born 18 years ago. Some of the them will have died, but if you divide that by 365, you are still talking about well over 300,000 turning 18 every day worldwide. These labels, meaning simply, too stupid, or sour, or general belief it will fail, completely disregards that cylindrical truth, or maybe condemns, predicts, or even wishes for that number to be ever dwindling. To put 300k people a day in a category along side “a cabal of permanent in-house critics” is stupider than most of those 130 million people who happen to be dumb ass modern teenagers. It’s really no wonder why they recoil at this relatively young culture digging it’s heals into the ground.
I meant it as just people who don’t hold any bitcoin yet. Most are ignorant of it, not hostile toward it, but it covers both with the umbrella.
I appreciate that, unfortunately from a quick web search, only one of 20 links seems to lack hostility in its definition. Which could fairly be described as incurious or not responsibility researched, or biased by the search giants and seo, but on the other hand more than what I expect the larger populous is doing.
