Why not try number of zaps x 2 plus number of likes. That wayint incentivises engagement but not large zaps? Large zaps are welcome and the poster benefits. In the event of a tie, then the amount comes into play.

Potential New Formula:
Zap Amount + (Number of Zaps × 10) + (Likes × 10) = Engagement Score
Example 1:
📹 Video A – 5,000 sats, 25 zaps, 50 likes
5,000 + (25 × 10) + (50 × 10) = 5,750 Engagement Score
Example 2:
📹 Video B – 3,000 sats, 25 zaps, 50 likes
3,000 + (25 × 10) + (50 × 10) = 3,750 Engagement Score

Are you saying remove zap amounts as a metric or in addition to zap amounts we multiply number of zaps x 2 and then add likes?
Remove the amount. That way it is 2 points for a zap, one for a like. So, in the unlikely event of shenanigans, large zaps are irrelevant. At the moment someone's mum could zap them 1 btc and they'd beat someone who had 10000 zaps of 21 sats. Who has done the most to spread the word? One huge zap or many smaller zaps?
We’re hesitant to remove the impact of zap amount—zaps represent real value, and we believe they should always be the most important metric. However, we like your idea of weighting the number of zaps more than likes to better reflect engagement. Open to refining the balance!
Zaps definitely are a great asset to the Nostr protocol. My feeling is though that if the sat amount is more beneficial than the number of zaps, you leave yourself open to abuse. That said, it is your baby.
