Allowing volatility at the edges, enables stability at the foundation.
Similarly, intervention to hide volatility at the edges, causes cracks in the foundation, until the entire system becomes uncontrollably volatile and collapses.
Also, remember to keep water away from the edges--it can upset/slump a foundation and cause cracking--literally !
