I switched off the Olympics years before the drama. The skateboard interested me a little but I still question if these are the best skaters or not. I have seen better runs and bigger air in different US competitions.

I would never watch a skateboarding competition if it weren't for the Olympics. Even if it's not the best or most prestigious competition, it gives it a different exposure.
And even if it's still weak, that maybe because it's only the 2nd time at the olympics and needs time to mature and get taken more seriously.
Olympic skateboarding is very weird. Everyone seems almost robotic. I don't know if it's the pressure, the brand new skatepark with not graffiti or skid marks, or the incentive not to bail. But thrasher videos are 100x more fun to watch.
Amen, that is exactly what I am talking about. I am thinking maybe the cost of participating or the image of the Olympics games are keeping some talents from participating.
