The interesting thing is I think a lot of less technical people are just going to keep using it and think something is wrong with bitcoin/lightning.

I’ve been telling people to steer clear of that wallet for awhile now (at least the Lightning portion of it).

This was obviously going to happen.

I've had multiple Muun users tell me that Lightning was too expensive. Muun's dishonest discredits all of Lightning.

Muun is such a pile of hot garbage it’s actually harming Lightning network adoption now.

Muun is us awesome. And they have nothing to do with lightning lack of adoption.

They do if they’re making it seem unusable when on-chain fees are high.

I use it many times a day and never paid more than 1-10 sats /transaction

Try making a payment greater than 100k sats and see what happens

I have

😂

I call BS or a bug. Never experienced such thing.

If you think Muun is the problem slowing down Lightning adoption, then lightning is doomed and bitcoin can’t scale for shit

The problem is muun doesn't use lightning. Any lightning transaction is 2 onchain transactions

This isn’t true. Complete bullshit

It is.. Muun isn't a real lightning wallet. Read the code

👌

Yep. It’s not a lightning wallet. I liked that wallet in the past cause it was intuitive more than any other wallet and payments worked flawlessly.

Later I found out what they are doing and competition got much better and I’m not coming back, never.

Currently I usually recommend WoS or Breez and with own node Zeus. Thats my combo

The threshold is so high for a new user to onboard, please streamline the onboarding experience. 🫂

Are you referring to Nostr specifically?

I'm referring to the onboarding to be able to zap and get my entries zapped.

Yes, there are definitely a few layers to understanding how all of it works. We’re still new at this. Things will improve.

It is true muun is atomic swaps like all these others have told you. This is why the fees are so high there.

Why do so many people defend a piece of low-quality software like this? It doesn’t make any sense. This isn’t the hill to die on.

What’s a great one?

Besides running a node, for non-custodial I can only really recommend Phoenix. Otherwise you might as well just stick with Wallet of Satoshi until the fees are low enough again to make sense sending any sats you want to save on-chain to cold storage.

Muun ☠️

What fees are you seeing? Can you screenshot it? I deleted Muun months ago.

what do you use now? i’m currently using muun and trying to find a better alternative, i don’t wanna put all my btc in WoS because they could technically rug pull me🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t recommend using Lightning wallets (they’re all hot wallets, custodial or not) for any long-term HODL amounts.

I run a node, so I don’t need to rely on them, but #[4] provides a great entry-level service that we are stress-testing with our #zapathons, and I still like it because it’s fast and easy.

You could look into Phoenix, which gives you more control over the Lightning channels and still gives you custody of your sats.

Depending on what you consider an amount worth keeping, I’d suggest moving anything that you don’t plan to spend (or risk) in a hot wallet to an on-chain address where only you hold the private keys.

Just put a minimal amount in WoS, and keep the rest in a non-custodial wallet, preferably cold storage.

Use Phoenix wallet non custodial lightning wallet thats what I use as a spending wallet and Phoenix gives you a 12 word seed phrase that you can recover you fund if anything happens

Can someone explain? Is it just the lighting side of Muun?
