I consider $XMR an S-tier cryptocurrency.
$BTC an A-tier cryptocurrency.
And everything else B-tier or below.

In terms of scaling, $BTC beats $XMR.
In terms of privacy, $XMR beats $BTC, and privacy > scaling.
#LightningNetwork is an L2 and although it improves privacy, it is still very hard to use privately. It's a close call between the two.
And soon $XMR / #monero will have full-set privacy.
