People will find ways they want to keep around the notes they care about, everything else will bitrot and be lost time. Nothing wrong with that. We don’t have to store everything forever. #thenukening

Here we go again…

I can see a value proposition in someone hosting a sort of Wayback Machine that has a paid search engine or DVM, or something, for historical queries.

But every relay I've ever written to, storing all 50283610 notes I've ever posted, is ridiculous.

Ain't nobody got time to read that.

Well, there you go.

Save your notes, or pay to have them stored, and let the purge begin.

I quite like bitrot and stuff being lost in time. Less for prying eyes to work with.

Exactly.

Before the internet and then smart phones and social media, this was the default. Nearly everything was simply forgotten.

UPS forever stamps to the Moon!

That's true. What's the Bitcoin ledger up to now? 600GB? Common people can't run nodes in any reasonable sense anymore, Nostr might as well not prevent your average user from starting their own relay.

Huh? A 1tb hdd is like 35 bucks. 1 1tb ssd is like 60.

You can always run a pruned nose that is 30gb or 100gb or whatever.

🤡🤪

If we want something to last forever, don't we just encode it into the timechain! 😉

#asknostr

That is EXACTLY right. Well said.

See the below.

This is okay with me especially since you can’t delete notes on nostr.

So tou say only CIA, NSA etc. will have copies our old notes / memes 😢
