They can post on nostr under the same name and as long as Brazil can’t prove it’s actually them Nostr should fix that.

Famous Brazil account nyms should pop up and start posting.

Well that might result in the person’s arrest anyway. I doubt the regime is going to lose too much sleep accidentally prosecuting people

But this does not work at a large scale. At some point it breaks power of the gov if too many innocent are arrested.

Umm ok. People are still alive who lived through two governments each killing 3x the populations of Australia

sure, but then anyone can just spin up a popular name and have them arrested. This is why it doesnt work.

Would think it would depend on how tyrannical the government is. Some really extreme ones could even spin up accounts of well known dissidents just to have something to arrest them for

they really don't need nostr to plant evidence. I think the best defense is 1,000 nyms all by the popular names all pretending to be them. Make a farce of the attempt at censorship. Whack-a-mole theory.

I still don’t agree. If someone has been posting under their real name on Nostr and has tens of thousands of followers, them turning around and saying to the authorities ‘oh that isn’t actually me posting’ isn’t going to convince anyone, let alone a regime that wants to convict them

They can change their username in nostr and start building a new community. They can't even use Twitter so it is best to start a new one with a new name.
