I do not speak for all people, but for me, the further I am from the natural world the harder my heart becomes. When I lose sight of the things that are growing, changing, and adapting I lose respect for the world. We build walls to keep out the “wild” things. To shelter and separate ourselves from each other. Then we ask ourselves, why do we not respect each other? Why do we not listen?

Now, some want to strap googles on their heads and separate themselves further, from the bounty and beauty that awaits them right beyond their doors. The world is not “infested” with dangerous things that we must shield ourselves from. Instead, the world is tame and surround by a great mystery.

I'm never closer to my true self than when I am walking through a forest with my dog at my side.

My wife and I always have our best conversations when we are out on the land. My children are free to do whatever they want, take risks, build things, lounge.
