We already have BIP47 (paynyms), why Silent Payment Addresses?

Why didn't the wallets implement BIP47 years ago?

What are the advantages of silent payments over paynyms?

BIP47 requires no 24/7 server unlike Silent Payments

Or am I conflating the 24/7 server with payjoin? 🤔

In the context of Wasabi the BIP352 allows light clients to recever/synchronize a wallet in a privacy preserving way using compact filters while BIP47 requires a full chain node. Also, it is harder to make mistakes using BIP352 because there is no possible way to link all payments made by an user as can happen with BIP47 if it is not implemented very carefully.

Bip 47 has too much power, and Core People has a pastiche solution that nobody asked for.

Silent payments doesn't require a server, but good luck with finding tx without an fast indexer

Too much power? You mean too good to be used?

Yes, it's easy and powerful

Depending who you ask, BIP47 is "spam bloating the chain" 🙄

Yeah privacy spam. These morons 🙄
