Practically though, if a domain is tied to your identity on nostr, it might become a more interesting target for that reason.

Thanks Calle. I guess any domain that is tied to my identity, whether on NOSTR or via me publishing a website or webapp could make it a target anyway. Just thinking about whether there is any downsides to verifying via a domain that I may also use for other things.
Nothing to worry about then! As others also mentioned, you just drop a single text file to the appropriate location on your web server and that's it!
