What do you think is the "endgame" with these bots? They need followers to... increase their WoT score and thus their reach through the network... right?

They're not always bots, in fact most are real.

It can be used to get a real npub inside the WoT, then they can shepherd in the bots.

I think it's the same old, people want more followers, want more engagement, more reach, build their brand and in the case of nostr, more zaps.

That too. Obsessing over numbers. Sats are more diabolical I think though because there is actual value there.

More reach is more zaps. Seems pretty simple in a lot of cases.

I don't think I've seen a stand out/ strong meme account on nostr, and I don't really mind reposting style accounts, but the 'memers' here are pretty basic low twir crypto meme account re posters, or turbo normies 'life advice' slop lol. And the 'OC' meme accounts are more like boring bitcoin and nostr infographics

Who knows the endgame. But yes, same as follow4follow crap on insta/tiktok. Preying on peoples want for followers, or in this case a pittance of sats.
