Every year in california there are massive wild fires because some asshat couldnt be fucked to throw his chain all the way onto his trailer and the resulting sparks catch all sorts of dry brush on fire and now people really truly believe that fire is incapable of happening as a natural phenomenon and instead pretend super space lasers are responsible.

Most of the country would benefit from improved timber/forestry management, but the western US in particular. There will always be wildfires, but proper management (see fire lanes) limits the destruction markedly.
