I recently pitched a business idea to Ego Death merging the two. Got turned down over email, but I think if I can pitch it to Booth in person he will find it interesting.
Basically crowdfunding the cost of copyrights to release them into creative commons.
Rewards the content creators, enables access to everyone else, cuts out the publishers, and can't be censored.
Those who contribute to the unlock can list their names with the contributions and content creators can continue to be tipped after unlock.
Thus would create an incentive for artists to promote the site and to promote bitcoin as well.
Hmm, that’s an interesting idea. I was thinking that Bitcoin can be used to create incentives similar to what you’re describing. I like it.
I'm going to keep polishing. I need some devs to work with and the presentation deck is pretty basic.
Not feeling a rush though. This seems inevitable given that piracy can't be stopped.
If an artist doesn't guard their content before release it'll spread all over the internet.
