Found a ghost pipe in the wild! It’s a rare all white wildflower doesn’t photosynthesize, it steals food from fungi connected to trees.

Spotted in the Adirondacks. Nerd knowledge from reading Entangled Life 🍄‍🟫

Entangled Life...great read

So good. Any other book recs?

The Light Eaters by Zoë Schlanger is another good book in the same field

Adding to list, thanks!

A flower stealing from a fungi? My… how the turntables have turned

Hah, right? I think it gets nutrients from the tree and the fungi is the conduit. But regardless it’s pretty wild

Beautiful part of the world.

Looks like entangled swan

Wow that super interesting!

I’m impressed

We get those in our yard in Southern Oregon in late Fall, amazing

So fascinating! First one I’ve seen

So funny you say that!! I have been a huge fan of Kratom forever. But that’s Asian.. I had no idea we had something this powerful on our continent!! Did you infuse them???

I’m familiar with kratom but wasn’t aware of similarities. I’ll have to look into it more, thanks!

Next time, take a jar of everproof or vodka with you. When they are dropping over like that, drop em in the jar. After a few weeks you’ll have an awesome tincture that is an intense pain killer. Nature wins

Good to know! Natures does win 🏆

These grow here (though we still call em Indian pipes). I remember hearing they taste like asparagus, but I found them much less flavourful. Did you harvest them?

Interesting! No, just stumbled upon these little ones and let them be.
