Lets say Nostr gets its primetime attention and the “famous” people join in droves. They’re going to want to be verified because of their self-importance.

There is NIP-05 verification, if you own the domain, you verify your identity using your domain.

But I don’t think that’s going to work for them.

Verification in the other platform is something that’s marketed as exclusive and can be seen as a status symbol.

The NIP-05 is definitely not that. It is something that’s open to everyone and anyone.

Ya. NIP-05 is the current way but it might be inadequate. How long until some imposter tries to con and creates something close enough for people to be fooled. It won't take long, imo. As someone in the response has mentioned, there's a second level of verification using the npub that can be used.
