Your own understanding lies between you & the Bible too. The Bible is one of the most difficult collections of books to make any sense of that I have ever encountered. It's always important to understand & remember that we are good at deceiving ourselves, but it's just as easy (if not easier) to do when reading the Bible as with any other endeavor.

I disagree with this mostly. The Bible is pretty straight forward IMO. Also pays to listen to good pastors.

I think, like most other areas of study, that ~90% of the "experts" have things almost completely backwards. And it's far easier to be wrong about religion & get away with it than it is to be wrong in medicine & other fields which still manage to be upside down anuway.
