How tf is a book that is required reading in virtually every American High School "banned."

During the height of #MeToo (around 2017-2018) a whole bunch of schools banned it for the reasons I stated above. Later, a lot didn't bring it back because COVID had wrecked reading levels so badly, it was too advanced for high school level readers.
