One thing which makes me uneasy at the idea of Bitcoin replacing fiat currencies is that it'll almost certainly make smartphone ownership mandatory, something which would likely lead to levels of oppression far greater than any CBDC.

I mean, we're 80% of the way there already, but it's at least possible to feed yourself without having to cart one of those demon-boxes around with you.

Have you ever looked into a a degoogled phone? Graphene OS has a reasonably good UX.
I have, but it only solves part of the problem. For now I choose not to use a smartphone at all.
Have you heard about Africa being able to transfer value via bitcoin over sms? Many don't have smart phones, but some clever people have been working on non smartphone necessary bitcoin transactions.
I've heard mention of it, but I've not looked into it. I hope there are alternatives though - and that people actually use them. CBDCs are just one of the bars in the digital prison which is being rapidly erected around us.
