WHY THE FUCK in the 1990s did every American carmaker have two or more identical cars with completely different names?
Dodge Aries / Plymouth Reliant
Ford Taurus / Mercury Sable
Chevy Cavalier / Buick Skylark
And on and on…
They still do…

Yeah but i still don’t really get it. Probably to maximize the life of the tools/molds.
I think it was because they had established brand loyalty segments by age categories and didn’t want to lose any elderly customers while still acquiring younger ones who wanted more…style!
