Did you know there is amateur radio allocations on 3G, 4G, 5G bands?

Samsung was going to make it available on some hardware.

How come phone manufacturers don't let you p2p with your phone?

Telecoms don't want you to have...

Freedom?

Radio spectrum over a given area is a scarce resource. It should be treated as private property, not have its allocation decided by bureaucrats.

My country regulates every band and hertz and what each is allowed to be used for and by whom. Its ridiculous and is one reason we have one of the most expensive telecomms on the planet. Its ridiculous.

do you have you HAM radio license? I have been looking into it more.

Do it!

Do it and practice. People underestimate how complicated communications gear is.

If you buy a radio and put it in a box you will not know how to use it and it will be a paperweight if something happens. If you can operate and repair communications equipment you have a valuable skill you can trade for goods and safety in a disaster event.

He did, to my knowledge, the first bitcoin "transaction" over HAM radio using JS8, and probably is responsible for orange pilling adam curry in the process.

I bet if you talk to the right people you can get the military to require it

they're big about disaster preparedness

The whole reason the internet was invented was to be a nuclear war resistant communications layer that was publicly accessible

The idea was that even if some sort of tyrant took over the United States, or some bomb went off and destroyed things, we could still communicate

many people underestimate how the better parts of the military are culturally closer to Bitcoin than people think

Agree

It's cool but more limiting to use ham bands. For example, you cannot run encryption or use it for commercial purposes.

There's one phone I know of that can do ham band R/T: https://rfinder.shop/product/rfinder-b1-dual-band-dmr-4g-lte-128gb/

I've never tried it, but someone made it. :D

Allow me to push back from the other side. Why does ham radio require you to get a license? Seems authoritarian.
