it’s not a payment if you put sats in a channel. it’s your sats. - I think you have a misunderstanding there.

if you want to get incoming liquidity then you can buy it from one of the LSPs. This is the default flow because it’s the easiest and most reliable and most people want it.

but I understand your thoughts? - where was that “free” even that much emphasized? where did you read it?

I used the comparison before:

The “get alby” account said “free” at least twice to me in other responses. However, your answer clarifies a bit… correct me if my analogy is wrong: but it sounds like what you’re describing is like a bank account with a minimum balance. Like, it’s my sats, but I need a minimum balance for the bank to hold it open?

My understanding was it was me “buying” a channel and, therefore, that the sats (or fiat) were GONE once I paid it. Then, because of the “3 months” bit under there, it looked like renting/tax.

If it is more like “this is a minimum balance that will be checked every 3 months”, that changes my understanding dramatically.
