Remember when every self-respected AI researcher refused the term "AI" as a purely marketing term, very unserious, and preferred "machine learning" etc?

I liked the term cognitive science.

*Synthetic Intelligence

You can tell someone isn’t an AI researcher if they use β€œAI/ML”

ML is a sub area of AI

In the end, everyone needed an umbrella term to refer to the general phenomenon.

Better days. People using β€œAI” to refer to ML or LLM is a pet peeve.

Nobody wants to miss the hype train I guess

Another pet peeve: using β€œAI” to refer to behaviour trees.
