Because it opens a tunnel between you and your chat partners you have to both be online for messages to come through. Should sync the next time you are both online. There's no central server where the messages sit and wait in other words. Works great for me. Also a great way to send files securely between devices.

Works well but they do get bugs where that can happen from time to time. It's beta so if you report the issues they will fix it
