Oh no, our daughter will be married to a white guy who can care for her, and provide for our future grandchildren, and we might see some money once in a while.

I know some who have.
I know a girl who grew up in an ultra conservative muslim household.
She went to the US for graduate studies, and she started working, and she did get liberalized. She fell in love with an awesome American guy, they dated and got married.
Her parents were in denial, and to appease them, she brought her husband back home to her parents. And her parents organized a muslim engagement event with a sheikh and invited everyone to announce their daughter’s engagement, even though they were already married and living together.
The levels of delusion…
Given who joins the US military, I suspect there weren't *that* many takers for that option...
