Real friendship between nations, like between individuals, must be earned continuously and bounded by mutual respect for each party’s distinct interests. Anything less isn’t alliance, it’s dependency. And dependency, as the founders understood, is the death of self-governance.

The U.S. should stop treating any foreign state’s security concerns as an automatic invitation to war. No ally deserves a blank check for our blood or treasure. Our foreign policy must prioritize American liberty, interests, and consent.

I like the 4th turning theory that each 80year turning has meant the start of a new North American republic.

So this is the 3rd version of the country. Turns out this was an empire phase and we’ll have a chance to build the 4th next.

God willing we can return it to some of the principles of the 1st Union.

God willing, as you said, we get the chance to rebuild something closer to 1787 than 1947. But it’ll require a generation willing to dismantle what their predecessors built, always the hardest political task. The founders’ principles are still sound. Whether we have the courage to actually implement them again is the test of this turning.

Good time to be alive! 🫡
