I tried it out for a month just to support the guy and it was like a dating app for dudes who like Bitcoin. Very gay.

Same, tried it for a month, was pretty gay

Oh nice. I have a couple of friends that are gay. I'll let them know so they can expand their searches outside of Grindr.

You mean Grinder?

The goal of OPA is to connect bitcoiners IRL, whether is for dating or friendship or networking is beside the point.

It’s a nice way to get local meetups started. You can’t win with Bitcoiners sometimes.

It's ok, we appreciate the adversarial thinking.

LMAO! I was literally thinking earlier that it was like a sausage party dating app. 🤣

Do people actually pay for the orange pill app?

A couple thousand people 😂

Higher than I would have expected!

around 7702

you can find the counter on our website

yes, everybody pays to join OPA, except El Salvadorians.

In what way is OPA in competition with nostr or nostr clients?

It seems pretty apparent to me that he's been very negative since the beginning of this Nostr bull run since it coincided with the launch of OPA and Bitcoiners jumped on Nostr on day one. It's understandable to be upset. You can either be upset or do what #[5]did. He worked for a year on his Bitcoin social app and then saw Nostr's potential and pivoted. Smart move.

As for competition, it seems pretty obvious. Nostr connects Bitcoiners, even though it's not a Bitcoin app. I've met hundreds of Bitcoiners, many now IRL, that have become close friends that I cannot wait to meet up with again. We're building real world relationships. Maybe they're not overly hyper-local at at this time, but that's easily a feature that any developer, including yourselves, could add if the users wanted it.

I'm staying out of this one friends, but don't worry me and Matteo have argued about nostr enough already xD

Can confirm. 😅

Derek, if you follow us on Twitter you’d know we’ve been supportive of nostr from day one.

Matteo even offered to help Will with getting Damus approved on the App Store.

We run a nostr relay, we offer nip05 verification to our users and we encourage them to put their pubkeys in their OPA profiles to that they can connect on here.

One of the ethos of bitcoin is about being truthful, why not have a good faith conversation with Matteo about his nostr criticism instead of accusing us of being competitors when we’re clearly a supporter?
