After much consideration, I shut down my nostr:nprofile1qqsyv47lazt9h6ycp2fsw270khje5egjgsrdkrupjg27u796g7f5k0spzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcprdmhxue69uhkummnw3ez6vfwde3x7tnpdenkzmnf9e3k75xqss4 Hub channels, and cancelled my Alby Cloud subscription this afternoon. While Alby Hub is an amazing platform, I just don't conduct enough transactions or volume to justify the subscription fee.
If my Lightning volume increases, I'll consider reestablishing my subscription, but for now I'll be using Aqua Wallet for on-chain and Lightning savings, and Minibits Wallet for Lightning and eCash spending, including zaps. This arrangement provides me with the functionality I need, but without the 10-20k sats per month in fees.
It's been fun, Alby. I wish you well, and recommend you to anyone looking for an inclusive, self-custodial Lightning platform.

I don't think so. I have getalby ln address without the cloud subscription, and you can have alby hub self hosted btw.
I guess I'm wondering how long my account can stay dormant before it and my LN address are deleted. I may opt for a self-hosted option within the next 30-60days, so I'm hoping my account won't be nuked right away.
Good question, If your ln address is not linked to any wallet for a long time. I don't think they can give it to someone else, but I don't know 100%. Anyway you can link it to another wallet that a trustworthy person provide it for you (this is custodial, caution) for a while, and then unlink it, and link it to your own DIY alby hub backed by your node.
No, your Alby Account will not be affected. It is a service free of charge and you can link any NWC node to it.
Just please remember to cancel the subscription and the Cloud if you decide not to pay & use it anymore
